The new version of this BIM classification specialised in the railway field is born in the framework of the commitment of Railway Innovation Hub and its partners to innovation, and with the desire to update and adapt the first version, defined in 2020, to the new technological context and the new constraints of the railway market.

SCFclass V2 is the result of a collaborative working environment between 23 participating entities, including Railway partners and various railway managers.

Thus, and coordinated by INECO and Grant Thornton, the partners ALSTOM, ARDANUY, AYESA, AZVI, CAPGEMINI ENGINEERING, CEMOSA, COMSA, ENYSE, GLOBALVIA, IRECFER, REVENGA, SENER, SIEMENS, SISTEM, THALES, VIAS and the University of Malaga have been involved in its development. Together with them, the Public Works Agency of the Andalusian Regional Government, as a partner of Railway and as railway administrator, in addition to ADIF, the Basque administrator ETS and the Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat de Valencia, FGV.

Given the spectrum of participants, covering the entire value chain, and their extensive national and international experience in the use of BIM technology, SCFclass V2 is born with a clear practical orientation that will serve as a useful tool to facilitate the digitisation processes of railway infrastructures and for the further development of digital twins applied to these elements. In this way, this new Railway Innovation Hub classification responds to the guidelines set by MITMA’s Safe, Sustainable and Connected Mobility Strategy 2030 regarding the use of BIM and digitisation in the sector.

Railway and the participants in the new classification have wanted to share, once again, this knowledge with the whole railway sector, enabling the download of both versions from its website, https://www.railwayinnovationhub.com/bim/

Finally, we would like to announce that a webinar will be organised in the near future to present the documentation generated and the main conclusions drawn from this collaborative initiative.
